Quiz is a highly entertaining play by established English playwright, James Graham, that is described as “a provocative re-examination of the conviction of Charles Ingram, the coughing Major for cheating his way to one million pounds”.
It is based on a true scandal in 2001 when Ingram won Who Wants to Be Millionaire, only to be arrested, with his wife and a third party, and tried for cheating. Provocative because it makes you question and think.
Was he guilty? Did he get a fair trial? Was it trial by media? How real is reality TV? Do ratings overrule everything, even the truth?
Full of the razzmatazz of TV quiz shows, and the not dissimilar drama of courtrooms, Quiz was nominated for two Olivier Awards in the West End and will be making its Australian community theatre debut at Melville Theatre in May.
Featuring: Benjamin Small, Ruhama Rowe, Nikki Di Camillo, Paul Cook, Murray Jackson, Brian O’Donovan, Phil Bedworth, Paul Reed, Paul Hogan, Jayma Mathewson, Sarah Diggins, Alanna Van Mierlo, Sandhya Krishnan, Shaeyla Oosthuizen, Laura Mercer and Michelle Sharp.
