Joey, a graduate with a first-class honours degree in law — and £20,000 worth of debt — has just been fired from her job as a waitress.
With no future prospects she travels to New York on a whim to visit her estranged father, George.
Once there, she discovers her father is suffering from dementia and meets his carer, Sam, an optimist who dreams of working his way up to live his dream of becoming a doctor.
Joey finds herself falling in love with the idealistic Sam and is faced with the choice of returning to the rat race in London or staying in America.
The three collide as British cynicism meets American optimism in a cruel world.
Ella Hickson’s play Precious Little Talent was first performed at the Bedlam Theatre, Edinburgh, in August 2009, as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. A revised, full-length production opened at the Trafalgar Studios, London, in April 2011. The play premiered at the West End Theatre in New York in 2017. This season at Harbour Theatre is an Australian premiere performance.
Featuring: Elysha Hayes, Mitch McAulley and Tom Rees.
